Day 1  Those participants who are travelling to Longreach on Monday via flight arriving in the afternoon (flights own arrangements / additional cost)

Day 2 Continental breakfast provisions supplied for you to enjoy in your room

Free time to look around the main town centre of Longreach or do an optional tour

Suggested optional tours which must be pre-booked (additional cost, subject to availability)

747 Wing Walk at the Qantas Founders Museum – this experience starts at 11.30am (maximum 4 pax)

OR

Morning tour on the Cobb & Co Stagecoach, including morning tea and movie package, 4 hour tour (maximum 12 pax)

Or

Morning tour to Nogo Station including packed lunch, 4 hour tour (maximum 16 pax)

Those group participants who elect to arrive today, fly into Longreach this afternoon.

Visit the Qantas Founders Museum plus airpark tour. This facility tells the story of Australia’s national airline, from its early days in Outback Queensland to modern day. Enjoy a tour inside a Boeing 747 and the airline’s first 707 aircraft and wander through this exceptional museum.

Day 3       

Continental breakfast provisions supplied for you to enjoy in your room

Depart this morning on a tour to Barcaldine and Ilfracombe. See the Tree of Knowledge, Machinery Mile and visit the Australian Workers Heritage Centre. Enjoy lunch at the historic Wellshot Hotel and return to accommodation this afternoon.

Early this evening we take the short walk to the Qantas Founders Museum for the Luminescent Longreach sound and light show – a spectacular nighttime light and sound experience designed to delight, entertain and inform.

Luminescent Longreach is projected under the Airpark precinct which includes a Boeing 747, 707, Super Constellation and DC3.

Day 4   Continental breakfast provisions supplied for you to enjoy in your room

Depart Longreach at 8.00am for the drive to Winton, stop along the way to visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs centre – home to the largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils in the world.

The Museum is split between three facilities which we will visit during the tour, the Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Collection Room and Dinosaur Canyon. During our visit we will enjoy light lunch at the café. At the conclusion of the tour, transfer to the township of Winton.

After checking into your accommodation for the next two nights, relax and prepare for tonight’s Outback Festival Gala Dinner.

Accommodation in a standard room is at the Matilda Motel

Late this afternoon we make our way the short distance to the Waltzing Matilda Centre for the coach transfer to the Winton airport for the Outback Festival Charity Gala Dinner.

Day 5        Cooked Breakfast at one of the Winton hotels or cafes

This morning we visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre located on Winton’s main street. The first museum in the world dedicated to a song, the Waltzing Matilda Centre boasts state-of-the-art interpretation, telling the story of Waltzing Matilda.

Free time for the remainder of today to enjoy the festival activities, admission has been included in tour costs for this afternoon’s Dunny Derby and evening concert. Winton’s Outback Festival is famous for the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby, this hilarious event involves teams of five pulling and pushing the thunderbox (dunny) through an obstacle course.

Free evening to enjoy at your leisure – perhaps attend a live music concert or a movie at the Royal theatre.

Day 6   Cooked Breakfast at one of the Winton hotels or cafes, check out of  your room by 10am

Free morning to enjoy at your leisure – you may choose to visit the Afghan Bazzar and street markets, the truckies show and shine, or the whip cracking show at the Outback Festival. Or perhaps take a walk to discover this intriguing town.

Be entertained by the quirky Outback Festival grand parade down the main street of Winton.

At 12.45 pm we will be collected from the hotel and have a short orientation tour of Winton including a stop at the unique musical fence before travelling back to Longreach.

Free time for the remainder of the afternoon until we are collected at 4.45 pm for the Drovers

Sunset river cruise and dinner.

Day 7        Continental breakfast provisions supplied for you to enjoy in your room

Check out of your accommodation and transfer the short distance to the Stockmans Hall of Fame for the Stockman’s Experience. Paying tribute to pioneers of the CBL Australian outback. The centre is also dedicated to Australian stockmen who have shown bravery and courage (museum entry, cinematic experience and stockmans show). Enjoy a light lunch in the café at Stockmans Hall of Fame

Tour participants who are departing today on the Qantaslink afternoon flight at 4.20 pm will be transferred to Longreach airport. (flight own arrangements / additional cost)

 Transfer to Train station, check in commences at 9 am

Spirit of the Outback train departs Longreach 10 am

Sit back and enjoy the scenery as the train journey’s through the outback

Meals in the dining car are included in the train fare.
